She was born on December 22, 1944, in Stamford, TX, to John D. and Wanda Halliburton. She married Robert Wayne Cherry on June 21, 1963, in Clyde. She had an in-home day care for several years and helped raise half of the children in Ranger. She was mom, “Nanny Sues” and then “Nanny” to many and even was a foster parent.
Sue graduated from Ranger College and became an LVN in 1978 and worked in various hospitals, nursing homes, and home health. She had a gift in creating and decorating beautiful cakes. She did everything from wedding cakes, baby shower cakes, and especially awesome birthday cakes.
She loved her family with all of her heart. She always remembered all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s birthdays with a card and gift. If any family member needed something for their house, she had it in one of her many storage places. She also loved Elvis Presley with all of her heart. She was a die-hard fan and her favorite memories included recently traveling with Micheal and Teri and their crew to Branson, Missouri, and saw an all-time great Elvis impersonator. But if you asked Nanny, Elvis was still alive.
