If you are a beginning writer, it means (sigh) you must follow the rules … for now. It doesn’t seem fair. We’ve all read best-selling books in which big-time authors didn’t follow the rules. So why should we? Why should there be restrictions on creativity anyway? Writing rules are not there to restrict us but to guide us in the right direction.
