FROM THE MAYOR

I hope everyone had holiday! Of course for us retirees, every weekend is a holiday weekend. But, that doesn’t mean we don’t stay busy. I know I have way too many commitments that keep me active and that’s a good thing! Lately, I’ve had to add mowing my yard almost weekly to my to do list!

The Commissioners canceled our regularly due to the holiday but we will have called meetings to address anything needed during the month. We have ongoing projects that we have to monitor plus our regular maintenance responsibilities keeping us busy.

The water tower project is not moving very fast. I believe they will be sand blasting the exterior this week getting it ready for paint. I thought they were going to start last week but appeared that they took the week off for the holiday. The same is true for the downtown revitalization project, but I did see that they were back to work this Monday morning. The Highway 6 project continues its northward progress up Fisher Street relocating utilities. I ask everyone to watch their speed as they have to reroute themselves through neighborhoods. The speed limit on all roads in Gorman except Highway 6, Highway 8 (Fisher Street), FM 2689 (to Kokomo) and FM 689 (Duster Road) is 20MPH.
