What a difference a year makes. Last year we didn’t get much rain at all. This year I know that Vicki and I have received over 15 inches at the house in the last month alone and still counting. Most tanks and private lakes have filled to over flowing and the lake that supplies our city water, Lake Proctor, has come up considerably. Prayers answered!
But, with ample rain and sunshine come considerable growth and there are many yards and lots that need to be mowed. Consider this article an advance notice that we will be issuing violations so please take care of your property. We have been very reasonable and have not been issuing very many violations due to the continuous rain we’ve received. I know it has been all I can do to keep up with my own yard. I also know that we have local residents that are in the business of mowing yards for a living. If you need their contact information, please call the City.
Not only do we need yards mowed, we need any standing water where mosquitos can breed to be drained. I’m not just talking about pools of water on the ground, but anything that can hold water, even a glass or a flower pot. The city will be spraying for mosquitoes. We ordered a new sprayer this week. If you intend to spray your own yard, please use something that is safe for you and the environment.
