Several years ago my daughter and I were out visiting people in our community. I was talking to one man and asked him if he knew Jesus Christ as his Saviour. He said he he had received Christ as his Saviour and that they just had a funeral the day before. To which I replied - “Amen.” I was saying Amen to his salvation not the funeral, but by the time it came out of my mouth it sounded like I was saying “Amen” to the funeral.
This delayed response turned out to be harmless and humorous, at least to me and my daughter. Of course, not all delayed speech is harmless or humorous. If we wait too long to say “I love you”, it can be a major regret. If we wait too long to warn someone of potential danger, it can be very costly. If we wait too long to share the gospel, the Good News can become Bad News!
Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” It is our responsibility share the gospel with every creature (person) with whom we have an opportunity to share the wonderful message. The cost is too high for us to wait too long to say what needs to be said or else it may end up being too late!
