The Ranger Bulldogs and Rising Star Wildcats both turned in solid showings last week at the Hico Invitational Powerlifting Meet. The event was held Jan. 26 in the Hico High School gym.
Ranger placed sixth in the 11-team field. Led by a gold-medal performance from Conner Taylor in the Super Heavyweight class, the Bulldogs rolled up 14 points. Rising Star took 11th overall.
Taylor posted some impressive numbers in the tournament. In the squat competition, the RHS standout pushed up 340 pounds. After recording a weight of 280 in the bench press, he finished off the meet with a 435-pound effort in the dead lift. He finished with a threelift total of 1,265.
