10-11-2021 How do we make someone want to live? Is it even our right? When they've given up and given in They don't want to fight They've lived their life And gone beyond the years That most of us are given Making a mockery of fears Who are we to stomp our feet And in desperation throw up our hands Who are we to cry and plead That they give in to our demands We beg them to fight to stay alive But is it for us or for them Do we force the struggle for each day And silently condemn We call ourselves family These ones we claim to love But how is that possible When we pull and push and shove When does it become about this soul Who has lived a long and spirit filled life When do we stop thinking about us And stop the times of strife Can we focus on their comfort And thank God for the time we've been given And do our best to ease the bonds of this life As they long to escape to heaven As hard as this will be I think it will be best To say goodbye And let their spirit rest In doing this it will help us both As we prepare for unknown grief We will grow stronger as they grow weaker And then comes relief.
