The City of Eastland would like to remind everyone City Ordinance Sec. 9-19 – Depositing, dumping or burning, it is unlawful for any person to throw, place, dump or deposit of any tree trimmings, hedge trimmings or any other cuttings or trimmings of vegetation on or in any gutter, street, sidewalk, parkway, driveway, curb, alley or any other public property of the city, or in or on any lot, vacant or occupied, driveway or other private property in the city.
When mowing property be sure your mower is depositing the cuttings onto the property and not into or upon the street, gutter, sidewalk, or alley. When using leaf blowers do not direct the leaves or other yard debris onto any sidewalk, street, gutter or alley.
Many do not realize by blowing their grass clippings into the street, those clippings can stop up a storm drain damage to properties in the event of heavy rains. The clippings, when left on the street also promote weed growth as well as the premature breakdown of the surface of the street.
