Many followed the “Around the World in 80 Days” journey of Dr. Sandra Hazelip and Ellie Hamby - “@81 and Still on the Run” - as they added: not without a tiny tinge of envy admittedly. Who would not love to experience in person the man-made and natural wonders our world has to offer. Places we might dream of, such as Antartica, the Artic Circle, Japan, Zambia, Egypt, India …. and more, but usually do not have the courage (time or funds) to visit. Not to mention planning this epic journey post-80th birthday!
Guest speakers at the November Eastland Civic League & Garden Club, and close friends for years, Sandy Hazelip and Ellie Hamby have undoubtedly recounted their adventures on this journey multiple times and at multiple venues since their return.
Their enthusiasm, humor and appreciation has not dimmed, however, and Civic League members and guests relived the adventures with them as they spoke, accompanied by Ms. Hamby’s remarkable photography.
