The Holliday Eagles must have felt like they were in the drive-thru line at a fast food restaurant on Friday. They did, after all, have everything their way.
The Eagles scored on a kickoff return and a fumble return in the first 12 minutes of play and then held on to claim a 44-7 victory over the Eastland Mavericks in a bi-district playoff showdown in Mineral Wells. Overall, Holliday scored four times in the first quarter and cruised to a huge lead that Eastland was unable to overcome.
With the win, seventh-ranked Holliday improved to 10-1 and will advance to face Leonard in the Area round this Friday in Weatherford. Eastland finished its season at 3-8.
