Like my mama always said, you’re not supposed to talk about politics, religion, or sex around the dinner table. But at the November gathering of the Cisco Writers Club, members enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner (complete with a smoked turkey and six pies), a presentation by author Michael Neuhaus, and a lively discussion between three learned authors on different sides of a religious issue.
Neuhaus’ book, The John 1:1 Factor, is a theological treatise after all. I sensed those in the room growing uneasy. In our contemporary society, how would differing points of view pan out? Who would shout the loudest? What scathing sound bites could be gleaned for social media?
Nobody shouted, and there were no juicy bits to boost anyone’s social media following.
