After two years as captain of the Cisco College Soccer Team, Danish student Freja Hansen played her last Cisco game on Oct. 21 at Chesley Field. Her parents, Per Brendstrup Hansen and Annette Hansen of Copenhagen, Denmark, flew in and watched her score a goal for the team, leading to a 5-1 victory over Dallas Christian College.
“I always wanted to play soccer in the U.S.,” Freja said. Former Cisco soccer coach Brandon McGibney recruited her, “and that’s how I ended up here.”
Before coming to Cisco, Freja had lived in Copenhagen all her life. Moving into a Cisco dorm “was a little bit rough, and definitely weird in the beginning,” she said. “But I had some very good teammates around me that helped me feel at home.”
