For the first 10 minutes of Friday’s showdown with the state-ranked Strawn Greyhounds, the Ranger Bulldogs proved they had the talent to stand toe-to-toe with one of the state’s best.
Unfortunately for Ranger, a pair of second-quarter injuries robbed the Bulldogs of their top two players and paved the way for the Greyhounds to race to a 64-18 victory in front of a small crowd at O.C. Warden Stadium. Down two starters, Ranger was outscored by a 22-6 clip in the second quarter.
Overall, Strawn scored the game’s final 42 points and stopped the game via the sixman football 45-point mercy rule with 6:54 left in the final frame.
