By Vance O’Brien The Board of City Commissioners of Eastland was called to order at 6 p.m. on Sept. 18, 2023 at Eastland City Hall. Following was the invocation by member Richard Rossanger and pledge led by Mayor Larry Vernon. On motion by Cecil Funderburg, seconded by R. Rossander the minutes of the Aug. 21, 31 and Sept. 6, Sept. 8 meetings were approved. A financial report showed sales tax finishing in, 2022-23, by Sept., to be greater than 2022 by 9.47% and audit in good condition, according to City Auditor.
A report by the Eastland Economic Development Incorporation, for annual purposes, indicated Matt Crum replacing James Doyle as new member; viewed as a Type A entitiy for the purpose of retention/acquisition of big industry, the report indicated 7-8 acres of some new development and 92 acres in the business park; a short term lease from Troy Construction, out of Houston, yielding $12,000 for short stay for pipeline work, 2 acres by the Medical Plaza; 20 acres in Airport Acre, and a report of Mighty Molding of location near Tractor Supply. Also the new Appraisal Bldg. site is in development. A developer has closed deals on the Stanley old lot, and the Warner lots near the Medical Park Action was also taken on finalizing the EEDI amended FY budget 2023, with the discretion of the commissioners to approved based on motion by Cecil Funderburg and general approval.
Also reported was added EEDI revenues from Bartee Metal moving out of the Industrial Park.
