The Hawley Bearcats scored twice in the first quarter an then held on to claim a 33-20 victory over the Eastland Mavericks in a non-district showdown on Friday.
With the win, sixthranked Hawley improved to 2-1 . Eastland dropped to 0-3.
Despite the loss, Eastland picked up a stellar performance from quarterback Isaiah Hays, running back Brenden Foust, receiver Griffin Beard and defensive stalwart Cayden Alford.
