By Ginger Tobin In a called meeting held on August 11, 2023, Barbara Medley, STAR PRIDE President, asked for a vote by six members on a new plan for the local group to decide about assuming the temporary planning and oversight of several local projects which had previously been accomplished by the Rising Star Chamber of Commerce.

The “Chamber” is now non-existent, with no membership to handle local functions such as Fall Festival and other local popular festivals such as Christmas decorating and visits with Santa Claus.

Jan Clark, City Manager, met with one or more STAR PRIDE members to inquire if STAR PRIDE would like to assume responsibility for the planning and details of several long-time holiday and other locally popular festivals.
