EVEN IN THE HEAT of what must be the classic heat wave, here we are making plans for FOOTBALL COVERAGE. It is vitally important to be able to properly COVER IN DETAIL what we informally call the fall (make that football season in Eastland County of highest priority because we are honored to report a great number of very important football clubs. Each one ready to claim the highest honor of making it to STATE honor. Teams in our county have been there to State playoffs and are now vowing to do it again.
We see the newspaper’s job No. One-- cover every game to the best of our ability -- and that’s a masterful job requiring the presence of “eyeballs” at every scheduled game and recording of TDs, great sacks, unbelievable runs in every game.
We count the big three Cisco, Eastland, Ranger high school caliber and any number of appearances of Jr. high and who knows --maybe Pee Wee club bouts. It’s enough to make your head swimbut this is Texas, fall and time for the development and performances of outstanding 11s that are duty bound to “win” ‘em all for every flock of fans that include parents, relatives and neighbors “itching” to get behind a sure-fire winning ELEVEN, performing for the beloved home town team-- and family supporters and assorted fans who just love the game (it’s almost sacred) and beloved by every backing parent, girl friend and the little ones down the street (who see us as heroes even as we rush out onto the field.)
