Staff Photo Sixteen volunteers from the Tri- County Baptist Association from Eastland and Stephens county went on a mission trip to Fabens, Tx last week. Fabens is near the border of Mexico, outside El Paso. The dates of the trip were July 29,2023 to August 5,2023. A few things that took place were that over 2,500 school supply kits were made and put into boxes, and loading of the donated bags of rice and beans into large bags for the Pastors from Mexico to take back and distribute across the boarder. All these supplies were donated by churches and individuals all across Texas & New Mexico. The children who are living in poverty will be able to go to school and have meals and supplies. This group has worked for over 30 years on this mission. The ongoing mission in Fabens today is called Crossing borders ministry and works tirelessly together with churches and pastors in Mexico. At the end of the week the group prayed for the pastors after loading their cars before sending them back across the border. The reason this mission trip takes place is because in Mexico the children are only required to attend school through sixth grade but now through these donations they can further their education to better themselves and their families and hopefully break the chains of poverty. In addition, it is a mission of love to show others care and want the best for the children by showing God’s goodness & love.
