A fire in Olden Friday afternoon between Interstate 20 and Highway 3363 was contained several hours after multiple fire crews were called to the scene in extreme hot temperatures and windy conditions. Following initial evacuations, residents were then allowed to return to their homes, but asked to stay out of the way of emergency crews continuing to work at the time. Eastland County Sheriff, Jason Weger reported that several structures were affected in the area, but added that they were unaware of any injuries. Atmos Energy turned off gas going into Olden during the fire, but put gas back into customer’s lines Saturday morning.
