I sure wish I could complain about all the rain we’ve been having but it’s just the opposite. It hasn’t been this dry for quite some time. It would be a great time to have a water well for our yard. I know our yard and plants would greatly appreciate one. And, I know our farmers and ranchers need it more than ever right now. Keep on PRAYING for it and I’m sure God will send us our share eventually! He always does!
Not only is it dry, but it is HOT! Everyone is distressed due to the heat. It can be a very dangerous situation to be out in the heat if you are not prepared for it. Please take care and stay hydrated and cover up as much as possible and make sure your sunscreen is not out of date (expired). Remember too that those folks that have to work out in this heat all day may not be as cheerful as usual. Heat really affects one's attitude. Giving them something cold to drink or a pat on the back will go a long way to improve their attitude.
Un-mowed dead grass and weeds are a serious fire hazard and there are more places that need mowing than we have time to issue summons, but we will begin doing so. If you have been previously warned or fined, you may receive an immediate fine this time when summoned to see Judge Baggett and an additional fine for each day you are out of compliance after your court appearance. Please take the initiative and take care of your property now. You are not only endangering yourself but you neighbors as well.
