Tea Party Patriots of Eastland County invites you to meet Terri Hall, the founder and director of San Antonio-based Texans for Reform and Freedom (TURF) and Texans for Toll-Free Highways. Terri will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 10, in the Big Dam Room of the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 West I 20, Cisco. Terri Hall has long been politically aware, but in 2005 she learned the Texas Dept of Transportation (TxDOT) was to convert her only access to San Antonio, Hwy 281, into a tollway.
'A toll is a double tax to charge taxpayers again for what they've already built and paid for,' says Terri.
When she saw that this shift to tolling our existing freeways is happening nationwide, Terri started a statewide group called Texans Uniting for Reform and Freedom, or Texas TURF. This homeschool mom-of-ten-turned-citizen- activist rallied her fellow Texans to stop this runaway taxation without representation. They stopped construction of the international trade corridor known as the Trans Texas Corridor, and continue to focus on roads, tolls and freedom to travel.
