God has blessed us with the ability to remember. Everyone has memories. One of my fondest memories is of Doctor M.A. Treadwell. Not a whole lot of people know that it was he, who enabled me stay in the Seminary.
I’m certain I was not the only one because his receptionist, Mrs. O’Brien, had a ‘preacher file’ she looked to when we had a medical need. Many pastors that served in Eastland County, during his medical practice, were also under his care. I speak of him out of gratitude. I stand on the shoulders of that blessed servant of God.
Preachers back in the sixty’s weren’t paid a whole lot. It had come to a place in my life where I would not be able to pay medical bills and continue to drive weekly to Southwestern Seminary in Ft Worth. I apologized to my doctor letting him know that I was going to drop out of Seminary and cover my debt. He explained how God was blessing him and I need not be concerned over medical needs. He encouraged me to stay in school.
