By Ruth Stewart The Eastland Commissioners’ Court met at 9 a.m. on January 23, 2023 in the Eastland County Commissioners’ Courtroom in Eastland, Texas.

One of the main items of interest was to consider the Eastland County Historical Commission to place a historical marker for the historic 11th Court of Appeals on the Courthouse lawn. There was some discussion and Chief Justice John Bailey emphasized the importance of the 11th Court of Appeals being in Eastland County. He mentioned that there have been some attempts by others to relocate the present court to another area of Texas. The request was approved and the state will set the marker on the south lawn when it is prepared in a few months.

Ruben Zarate requested a dedicated fax line to the Veterans’ Service office in Stephenville. At the present time he makes two or more trips per week to have papers signed for veterans. Loretta Key mentioned an alternate solution and Ruben will check on the possibilities.
