When writing nonfiction, we have to stick to the script and be as truthful as possible, but when incorporating legends into our fiction, as Heineman does in her upcoming novel Like Honey for the Bones (releasing July 24th), we can switch things up, add more obstacles, and whatever else makes the story challenging for the characters and exciting for the readers.
Like Honey for the Bones is a dualtimeline novel. There is a WWI story and a contemporary story. In the contemporary setting, we meet Solveig Borja who had a run-in with the law when she was a teenager. At the time, she was living with her grandfather in the small town of Cross Keys, Virginia. She fled to Norway. It’s years later, and Solveig has returned to Virginia to settle her grandfather’s estate.
