Lee Alyssa Hale Obituary

Cisco—Lee Alyssa Hale, 43, died unexpectedly January 21, 2023, at her father’s residence at 907 West 14th St.     She was born in Denver, Colorado, May 23, 1979, and was adopted when she was 3 weeks old by Duane and Kathy Hale.  She had a son named Brayden and was divorced from Nathan Richter.  She has a brother in Austin named Bracken Hale.  His family consists of Phoebe and a son Rune and a daughter Natalie.    Lee got her degree from the Norman, Oklahoma public schools. When she was a baby the family lived in Minneapolis 2 years and then moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where her mother taught at OU; her dad taught at the University of Minnesota and then was on a grant at OU.  The Christian Adoption Agency in Denver required an autobiography from both the husband and wife when a child was adopted.  The Hales promised to give Lee a Christian home.  They went to the Church of Christ in Norman.     The wheels came off and as a result of the divorce the children were forced to relocate after a few years.  Kathy Hale taught at Antioch College in Ohio and Lee Hale was there with her mother one year before Kathy moved to Florida.  Lee was given 10 years probation from Eastland County, Texas and remained a total of 6 years in Ohio and then came to Cisco where her dad had moved and was reared.  Lee attended the 2nd half of her 8th grade year in the Cisco school system and then returned to Oklahoma for a period before coming back to Cisco again.         She had some processing problems from the oral to the written page; it just took her longer.  She was very smart and could look at something and figure out how it worked.  She was determined, loyal, faithful, excited, enduring, curious, and thinking about the future.  When she lost her little dog Cheech and while we were burying it in the farm dog cemetery, and her dad was trying of something profound to say, she said, “Cheech, go find grandma.”  Her grandmother Hale had died a few years before.  Lee’s mother, Kathy Hale, died this August 4th, and Lee’s Dad said, “Lee go find your Mother.”   Lee had 40 radiation treatments and 12 Chemo treatments.  She was operated on 3 times in Fort Worth, once in Keller, and once in Abilene.  It left her with a fused bowel and caused diaheria.  She was also Type 1 diabetic and it was almost impossible to keep her blood sugar regulated.  She had just returned from a routine cancer checkup in Fort Worth on Monday January 16th, and was again declared cancer free, but 2 days later she was sent to the ER in Eastland with a blood sugar of 26, and had just been released from the Eastland Hospital on Thursday.  Her blood sugar dropped on Saturday morning to such a low level that she died.  She was long suffering and had fought this for 5 years.      There will be a service at Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco, Texas, at 1:00 on Friday, January 27, 2023.  Flowers may be sent through Wildflowers Florist in Cisco, Texas.
