By Vance O’Brien The governing body of the city of Eastland met at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Juneteenth in regular session.
After meeting was called to order, the pledge to the U.S. flag and Texas flag and opening invocation by Mayor Larry Vernon, then issues were raised, after comment and approval of May 15th meeting. Minutes: including an 0.88% dip in sales tax revenue, with overall 2023 increase of 9.75% overall.
Initially Steve Gerdes made a presentation concerning the E.C.W.S. D. award which was achieved by a water tasting jude in a competition which included adjoining county water supply districts. Gerdes said a 6” water pipe was used from Eastland Fire Department when an intake pipe failed recently; he also commended Chad Roberts after 2 years service, who he commented on as a team leader. The award was presented in a 3 day school recently attended by water supply staff. Bids for engineering of the running of the Water Supply will be entered in July, after previously employing Engineering.
