In Matthew 24, Jesus’ disciples asked Him when the end would come. 4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Jesus told of many more things that would happen, then in verse 34, He said: 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
The Books of Daniel and Revelation also have much to say about how the end will come, but Jesus described it as “birth pains” which increase in intensity and frequency. I don’t think we can deny that many are trying to deceive us. There are wars and rumors of wars. Nations are rising against nations. And there are famines and earthquakes. All of these seem to be increasing in frequency and intensity. But verse 34 has always been a mystery to me until recently. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. The generation of the disciples passed away long ago but that is not what Jesus was saying. The generation that sees all these signs will not pass away. I believe that is US. If I am right, then Jesus may return very soon and remove His Church (Rapture) and the antichrist will appear and this world will become extremely evil.
