Ranger recognizes vets, Gold Star family on Memorial Day

The Ranger Citizens Task Force wanted to breathe a bit of fresh air into the community last weekend with the inaugural Ranger Bull Riding show. At the same time, they also wanted to make sure everyone remembered the sacrifices made by the men and women in the U.S. military, as well as their families on Memorial Day.

At the same time, they also wanted to make sure everyone remembered the sacrifices made by the men and women in the U.S. military, as well as their families on Memorial Day.

RCTF members honored two of Ranger’s own during last week’s event. Honored during the show were Gold Star family David and Ruthie Reeves and Ret. Lt. Commander E.A. “Rex” King, III. Both received standing ovations from the large crowd on hand at the old Ranger Sale Barn. David and Ruthie Reeves earned a Gold Star designation after their son, Staff Sergeant Jason Allen Reeves, was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. Tnative of Lubbock, Texas, Reeves died at the age of 32 on Dec. 10, 2010.

David Reeves is a 20year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. During his career, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan., Peoria, AZ.
