If there were any doubts as to how good the Cisco Loboes were heading into the Class 2A state track and field meet, there shouldn’t be any doubts now.
Reagan Bruner, and the CHS 4x200-meter relay team both picked up medals and highlighted a stellar outing by the Loboes on Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. The CHS boys’ squad finished 10th in the Class 2A team standings. Bruner penciled in her name as one of the state’s top pole vaulters by placing second overall. She cleared 11 feet in the event. Hico’s Kaylee Hunt garnered the gold medal in the girls’ pole vault with a height of 12 feet, 3 inches. While Bruner was pocketing a silver, the CHS boys’ 4x200-meter relay team was collecting precious medal of its own with a third-place effort. Cade Gayle, Hunter Long, Gus Hart and Jaden White legged out a time of 1 minute, 28.97 seconds in a hotly-contested race. Mason won the 4x200 state title with a mark of 1:28.39, while Timpson edged out Cisco at 1:28.51. The Loboes’ bid for a second relay medal didn’t go so well. The CHS 4x100-meter squad did not post a time in their race.
Gayle and White starred individually for the Loboes, Gayle soared to a fourth-place finish in the boys’ pole vault. He finished with a height of 14-6. White was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 3 inches.
