The Cisco College Wranglers turned in a solid showing this past weekend at the Region 5 Baseball Championships in Weatherford. The Wranglers went 1-2 in the tournament, which was held at Roger Williams Ballpark. Cisco opened the tournament with a tough 4-2 loss to the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds. NMJC used the win as a springboard to advance to the regional championship game on Monday against Weatherford.
With the loss, Cisco fell into the consolation side of the double-elimination bracket to face off with North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference rival Temple. The Wranglers defeated Temple by a 1—0 clip and moved into the consolation quarterfinals to face off with Odessa College. Odessa claimed a narrow 5-4 win. Odessa later saw its season come to an end with a loss to NMJC in the consolation semifinals.
Cisco finished its season at 36-23.
